Jevon Banks

Jevon “J. Banks” Banks is a self-taught abstract artist from Las Vegas, Nevada, whose work explores themes of resilience, transformation, and renewal. Guided by passion and continually evolving in his craft, he approaches art as both expression and discovery — a journey of growth captured on canvas.

Raised in a single-parent household and supported by the strength of extended family, he learned early what it meant to be shaped by both struggle and community. These lived experiences are woven into his canvases, where chaos, movement, and form become visual meditations on the human journey.

A former Division I basketball player and longtime coach, Jevon carries the discipline, rhythm, and intensity of sport into his studio practice. His paintings often feel like collisions of motion and stillness, embodying both the turbulence of life and the beauty that emerges from it.

Beyond the canvas, Jevon is an entrepreneur, business owner, speaker, husband, and father — roles that have given him a profound understanding of legacy, healing, and the power of vision. His work reflects not just artistic expression, but a philosophy: that even in moments of fracture, new creation is possible.

Today, Jevon continues to create bold, large-scale works that embody energy and emotion, inviting viewers to see not just abstract forms, but stories of becoming, resilience, and transformation.

My Artistic Philosophy

For J.Banks, art and memorialization are inseparable. His work, whether through transforming funeral spaces or creating abstract artwork infused with cremated remains, challenges traditional notions of death and mourning.

“I never wanted to recreate the old, dark, and depressing image of a funeral home,” Jevon reflects. “Instead, I wanted to create spaces and pieces of art that celebrate life.”

By incorporating cremated remains directly into his abstract paintings, Jevon creates works that are both deeply personal and universally moving. Each piece is a fusion of memory and material — a living canvas that holds presence, spirit, and legacy. His philosophy centers on compassion, dignity, and connection.

He believes that art has the power to carry memory forward in ways words cannot. Through color, texture, and movement, his work captures the essence of a loved one and transforms grief into a lasting, tangible expression of love.
